Born in St. Paul's Cray (United Kingdom), lives in New York (United States).
Anthony McCall (b. 1940) has been a key figure in avant-garde cinema and contemporary art since the 1970's. Starting as a filmmaker deconstructing his own medium, gradually his work was more frequently taking the form of installations situated in a cross-disciplinary field where film, sculpture, drawing and performance overlap one another. More recently McCall has focused on the digital potential of the moving image as a spatial manifestation, and thus a form of sculpture.
