Armen Eloyan
° 1966
Born in Yerevan (Armenia), lives in Amsterdam (Netherlands), lives in Zurich (Switzerland).
The Armenian artist Armen Eloyan (b. 1966) is a painter who's canvases make an energetic and tormented impression, with their thickly layered compositions of landscapes or (anguished) cartoon-like figures that are often the subject of oppression through Nazism, racism and extremism: subject matter that is closely bound to the person of Eloyan himself through his past in impoverished Armenia.
Despite the heavy themes, the artist succeeds in enticing the viewer by the energy transmitted in his canvases.
