De M HKA-collectie breidt steeds verder uit. Met Recente aanwinsten toonde M HKA aankopen die de collectie verder hebben vormgegeven. Bij het aankopen van nieuwe werken wordt ingezet op de avant-gardetraditie in Antwerpen vanaf de jaren 1960, de huidige multipolaire wereld, het belang van het ‘performatieve’, en het sociaal geëngageerde van hedendaagse kunst. Ook de aard en de rol die beelden vandaag hebben, speelt hierbij een rol. Belangrijke werken van zowel nationale, als Afrikaanse, Aziatische en Noord- en Zuid-Amerikaanse kunstenaars hebben de afgelopen jaren onze collectie verrijkt.
Enkele kernkunstenaars uit de tentoonstelling lieten we ook zelf aan het woord via ARTtube, het online videokanaal van 15 Belgische en Nederlandse musea. De video’s geven inzicht in het artistieke werkproces van toonaangevende kunstenaars.
Recente aanwinsten gaf een overzicht van de M HKA-collectie, die steeds wordt ontwikkeld rond drie fundamentele pijlers: het beeld, de actie en de maatschappij.
