M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Erwan Mahéo

° 1968

Based in Brussels (BE).

Erwan Mahéo studied at the School of Fine Arts in Rennes in 1988–92, and at the University of Rennes 2 in Plastic Arts in 1992–95.

He is interested in the creative process, questioning the relationship between architectural space and the space of thought. He creates real or virtual places or situations, using analogy, memory, history, and dialogue as construction materials. His work takes various forms and employs a wide range of techniques, including sculpture, video, embroidery, drawing, as well as the organization of collective projects and teaching.

Erwan Mahéo is responsible for the Urban Space workshop at ENSAV La Cambre. He also founded and directed the project Le Centre du Monde (artist residency) in Belle-Île-en-Mer, France. The collection resulting from this project was donated to FRAC Bretagne in 2014. On this occasion, he wrote the artist's novel Le centre du monde (description of an invisible sculpture). He is the president of the R1 association, which develops artistic projects in Brittany (such as Le Centre du Monde and Transmission).

He founded and directed the editorial project Herman Byrd with Sébastien Reuzé. Herman Byrd was a fictional character, an art and publishing enthusiast (Wave IX, journal, random edition; Le Morning, daily distributed at the bar Le Night in Bazouge-la-Pérouse in 2016; SWIM (See What I Mean), journal of the sculpture workshop at La Cambre, 2011–12).
