M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Hanne Lippard

Lives in Berlijn (DE).

Hanne Lippard works with language both as subject and medium of her artistic practice. She is particularly interested in the differentiation and discrepancy between spoken and written words. Lippard completed her studies at the graphic design department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. For over a decade she has developed a practice of performances, installations, sound, image and graphic based artworks, printed matter and publications. Her productions arise from a highly personal perspective while succeeding to capture and encompass collective vocabularies, attitudes and dynamics. The artist creates a privileged ground for analysis, observation and inspiration in today’s frantic communication landscape to reflect on a broad range of subjects extending beyond pure communication. Her approach involves processes of isolation, extraction, articulation, dilution and repetition of words. In doing so, Lippard makes language self-conscious of its intimate and collective implications, highlighting its role in carrying historical and contemporary (sometimes anecdotal) claims, liberating it from certain misuses and abuses or simply confronting it with its own expression at times generic or idiosyncratic. Within this context, English has become a material for contributing to the understanding and analysis of norms, customs and uses.

Hanne Lippard has performed and exhibited her work internationally. Selected solo exhibitions include FRAC Lorraine, Metz (upcoming); Fade-out, Furiosa, Monaco (2021); Ulyd, Stavanger Kunsthall, Stavanger and FriArt, Fribourg (2018)

and Flesh, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2017). In recent years, she has taken part in multiple group exhibitions among which are: and suddenly it all blossoms, RIBOCA 2, Riga Biennial, Riga (2020); This is my body - My body is your body - My body is the body of the word, Maison de la Culture, Namur (2019); Antarctica. An Exhibition on Alienation, Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2018); DOING THINGS WITH WORDS, Kunstverein Braunschweig, Braunschweig (2018); Nam June Paik Award 2018, Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster (2018); and The 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, Moscow (2015). Lippard is the recipient of the ars viva 2016, Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft, Berlin.
