The Pathetic Sympathy Seekers are a group of artists based in Berlin. Members are Johanna Abraham, Mirja Busch, Jana Gontscharuk and Lena Pemöller. Since 2003, they have worked jointly in the mediums of performance, photography, video, installation and writing. The Pathetic Sympathy Seekers address topics such as group identity, the reinvention of physical laws, the staging of life together, fictitious artworks, and the role of projection in art reception. Their work has been exhibited locally and internationally, including exhibitions at CAPC musée d‘art contemporain de Bordeaux, Künstlerverein Malkasten Düsseldorf and Kunstverein Hannover.
