M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Winnie Claessens

° 1989

Born in Antwerp (BE), based in Antwerp (BE).

The work of Winnie Claessens (b. 1989, Antwerp) is situated at the intersection between the possible and the impossible, between technology and imagination. Themes include space, space travel and cosmic colonialism. Claessens is inspired by the image, sound and movement of natural and artificial objects in space, exploring the technical side of our perception of the unknown. The Truth is Out There is a scale model of a ground station with a built-in motor, ensuring the dish can rotate 360 degrees. The Great Ballet in Orbit was inspired by space debris orbiting Earth. Currently, more than 10,000 man-made objects are floating in space, less than 10 per cent of which are in use.

Winnie Claessens is represented by Fred&Ferry Gallery.
