Ensemble: Het Geëngageerde [The Engaged]
Tot op zekere hoogte is ‘het Geëngageerde’ codetaal voor politiek of sociaal geëngageerde kunst. Politieke kunst hoeft geen bepaald programma te volgen – ze is meestal zo wel herkenbaar. Activisme in de kunst betekent soms een fysieke activiteit ter promotie van een alternatieve kijk op de wereld, maar ook het subversief bevragen van heersende systemen zonder een doelgerichte agenda voor politieke, sociale of economische veranderingen. Als term probeert het Geëngageerde een kunst te vatten die machtsrelaties aankaart door zichtbaar te maken wat onzichtbaar is, of wat verborgen zit onder het oppervlak van de beelden die de publieke ruimte innemen.
Sommige van de werken opgenomen in dit ensemble zijn te zien in Antwerpen, andere in Eindhoven.
