Exposition: Penser harmonieusement – Un coup d’œil aux archives de Mark Verstockt et Io Van Oostveldt

Mark Verstockt (1930-2014) était peintre, sculpteur, graphiste et auteur. Il a suivi des cours à l’Académie royale des Beaux-Arts d’Anvers où il a rencontré sa femme, Io Van Oostveldt (1928). Ils se sont mariés en 1953 et ont eu trois enfants. Verstockt a poursuivi sa recherche sur l’abstraction, le minimalisme et l’étude des formes géométriques. Dans les années 70, Van Oostveldt a créé des vêtements et des sculptures design pour ensuite se consacrer aux arts plastiques.
Au moyen de pièces d’archives et d’oeuvres des legs des deux artistes, cette présentation brosse un tableau de leurs pratiques respectives, de leur mode de pensée et de leur influence réciproque. Cette présentation permet de se faire une idée de la recherche du mouvement artistique constructiviste et géométrique à Anvers et au-delà.
Depuis 2017, le M HKA propose des présentations d’archives. Le musée entreprend différentes démarches pour soutenir la conservation, la documentation et l’exposition des archives et des legs d’artistes plasticien·ne·s. Le programme de présentation d’archives est composé par Evi Bert et Jan De Vree.
