Reims is the French city where all the kings are crowned. I did something completely different there. The show was called *An Anatomy Lesson* and it was about the breaking up of narrative, my own narratives, but European history narratives at the same time. I wanted to begin talking about a whole bunch of different things and then as usual interrupt myself and not talk about them. I wanted to do that deliberately in some historic way. The French don’t trust art, they only trust narrative, so I wanted especially to disrupt narratives and break them, to make similar narratives and fake narratives.\" [full text [here](http://ensembles.mhka.be/items/3175)]"},{"locale":"nl","name":null,"short_description":"","description":"“Ik heb ook een tentoonstelling gedaan in Reims. Reims is de Franse stad waar alle koningen gekroond worden. Ik deed er iets totaal anders. De tentoonstelling heette *An Anatomy Lesson* (‘een anatomieles’), en ging over het openbreken van verhalen, van mijn eigen verhalen, maar tegelijk ook van de Europese geschiedenisverhalen. Ik wou over een hele hoop verschillende dingen beginnen praten, en dan – zoals gewoonlijk – mezelf onderbreken en er niet over praten. Met opzet wou ik dat op een soort historische manier doen. De Fransen vertrouwen kunst niet; ze vertrouwen alleen verhalen. En dus wou ik vooral verhalen verstoren en stukmaken, gelijkaardige verhalen vertellen, en valse verhalen.” [Lees de volledige Engelse tekst [hier](http://ensembles.mhka.be/items/3175)]"},{"locale":"fr","name":null,"short_description":"","description":"« J’ai également présenté une exposition à Reims, la ville où furent couronnés les rois de France. J’y ai réalisé quelque chose de complètement différent. L’exposition s’intitulait La leçon d’anatomie et traitait de la fin de la narration, de mes propres narrations, mais de celles de l’histoire européenne aussi. Je voulais commencer à parler d’un tas de choses très différentes et puis, comme d’habitude, m’interrompre et ne pas en parler. Je voulais le faire délibérément dans un certain sens historique. Les Français n’ont pas confiance en l’art, ils n’ont confiance qu’en la narration. Donc, je souhaitais explicitement perturber les lignes narratives et les briser, en créer d’analogues et en inventer de toutes pièces. » [texte intégral en anglais [ici](http://ensembles.mhka.be/items/3175)]"},{"locale":"ru","name":null,"short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"de","name":null,"short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"es","name":null,"short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"el","name":null,"short_description":"","description":""}],"actors":[{"id":209,"name":"Jimmie Durham","assets":{"poster":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/016/713/large/136-m.jpg?1366723100","poster_credits":"(c)image: Maria Theresa Alves"}}],"items":[{"id":4879,"title":"Drawing performance","date_begin":"1996-01-01","poster_image":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/008/812/large/frac-3.jpg?1334834554","poster_credits":"image: (c) André Morin","actors":"Jimmie Durham"},{"id":2182,"title":"Le bâton pour marquer le centre du monde à Reims","date_begin":"1996-01-01","poster_image":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/003/147/large/114-M.jpg?1316176909","poster_credits":"image: (c) André Morin","actors":"Jimmie Durham"},{"id":1691,"title":"Shrouds and Swaddling Clothes of Decomissioned Saints","date_begin":"1996-01-01","poster_image":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/003/109/large/031-M.jpg?1316165293","poster_credits":"image: (c) André Morin","actors":"Jimmie Durham"},{"id":858,"title":"St. Frigo","date_begin":"1996-01-01","poster_image":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/002/754/large/39392009-02-02J-DURHAM-.jpg?1314280520","poster_credits":"(c)Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris / Thierry Langro","actors":"Jimmie Durham"},{"id":2181,"title":"Homage to David Hammons","date_begin":"1997-01-01","poster_image":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/003/302/large/006_1996_Durham_Hommage%20to%20David%20Hammons.jpg?1317666681","poster_credits":"image: (c) Philippe De Gobert","actors":"Jimmie Durham"}]}
