Helaas blijkt dat 43 jaar later niet het geval en is de confrontatie nog sterker geworden door de onafgebroken stroom van informatie.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eBig Brother werd in het dystopische boek \u003cem\u003e1984\u003c/em\u003e van George Orwell uit 1949 beschreven als:\u0026nbsp;\u0026quot;[...] de vijandige figuur smolt weg in het gezicht van Big Brother, zwartharige, zwart-gesnor\u0026rsquo;d, vol kracht en mysterieuze kalm, en zo groot dat het bijna het volledige scherm vulde. Niemand hoorde wat Big Brother zei. Het waren slechts een paar woorden van aanmoediging, het soort woorden die geuit worden in het geraas van de strijd, individueel niet te onderscheiden, maar wel herstellend voor het vertrouwen doordat ze gesproken werden. De alomtegenwoordigheid van de leider zorgt er voor dat iedereen continue onder toezicht staat: \u0026ldquo;Big Brother is watching you\u0026rdquo;.\u0026nbsp;Hoewel het boek reeds 66 jaar oud is, heeft het niet aan kracht en relevantie ingeboet. De problematieken die in het boek aan bod komen zijn circa 2015 nog steeds actueel.
