There is, first of all, a past\u0026nbsp;reality made present by the film. In this past reality Roelandt acts as if he is\u0026nbsp;in the same reality as the audience watching the film: he welcomes viewers,\u0026nbsp;tells them what is going to happen, etc. But occasionally he disrupts the\u0026nbsp;illusion of this enactment,\u0026nbsp;accentuating the reality of the time frame in which\u0026nbsp;the film was made, for example by talking to the members of the film crew.\u0026nbsp;By means of the film\u0026nbsp;medium Roelandt announces yet another reality\u0026nbsp;which is established by means of two video screens. From within his film\u0026nbsp;reality, Roelandt watches the videos\u0026nbsp;together with the audience. On the video\u0026nbsp;we see two different tapes of a performance (done especially for this project)\u0026nbsp;of the occupation (by peaceful means)\u0026nbsp;of a small Antwerp shopping street,\u0026nbsp;the Groendalstraat. We see how a lot of individuals ‘occupy’ the street by\u0026nbsp;standing in it at regular distances. The camera\u0026nbsp;records the reactions, ranging\u0026nbsp;from neutral to dismissive and even irritation, of the passers-by.\u0026nbsp;The video-based reality is augmented with a slide series on the\u0026nbsp;making\u0026nbsp;of the video tape, thus again disrupting that reality by bringing it back to\u0026nbsp;the moment of its creation. The slides are projected on the film screen so that\u0026nbsp;they seem to become part of the first film-based reality.\u0026nbsp;The project is thus about itself, and about the interaction of realities and\u0026nbsp;media. The video introduces the\u0026nbsp;only narrative element. Maar af en toe onderbreekt hij de illusie van dit acteren, door\u0026nbsp;het accentueren van het tijdstip waarop de film gemaakt is, bijvoorbeeld door te\u0026nbsp;praten met de leden van de filmploeg.\u0026nbsp;Met behulp van het filmmedium kondigt Roelandt nog een andere realiteit\u0026nbsp;aan die gestalte krijgt door middel van twee video monitoren. Van in zijn\u0026nbsp;filmrealiteit bekijkt Roelandt de video’s samen met het publiek. Op de video zien\u0026nbsp;wij twee verschillende tapes van een performance (speciaal opgezet voor dit\u0026nbsp;project) van de bezetting (met vreedzame middelen) van een kleine Antwerpse\u0026nbsp;winkelstraat, de Groendalstraat. Wij zien hoe een heleboel individuen de straat\u0026nbsp;‘bezetten’ door er op regelmatige afstanden van elkaar te staan. De camera\u0026nbsp;toont de reacties, gaande van neutraal tot afwijzend en zelf de irritatie van\u0026nbsp;voorbijgangers.\u0026nbsp;Deze videorealiteit wordt aangevuld met een diaserie over het maken\u0026nbsp;van de videotape, waarbij ook deze realiteit doorbroken wordt en\u0026nbsp;teruggebracht\u0026nbsp;naar het ogenblik van zijn creatie. De dia’s worden geprojecteerd op het\u0026nbsp;filmscherm zo dat het lijkt alsof ze een deel vormen van de filmrealiteit.\u0026nbsp;Het project gaat zo over zichzelf, over de interactie van realiteiten en\u0026nbsp;media. De video brengt er het enige narratieve element in. En benadrukt een\u0026nbsp;thema waar Roelandt\u0026nbsp;zich om bekommert sinds zijn vroege performances:\u0026nbsp;het sociaal gedrag van individuen en groepen van individuen.\u0026nbsp;Post Performance 3 is de derde in een\u0026nbsp;serie van performances die van\u0026nbsp;start gingen in Antwerpen begin 1980. Les participants se tenaient immobiles et entravaient en somme le passage fluide dans\u0026nbsp;la ruelle, malgré l’absence d’action directe. Des diapositives montrent les préparatifs de l’événement, tandis qu’un film montre Roelandt qui accueille les spectateur·rices depuis un sous-sol, parle avec l’équipe de tournage, explique l’événement et qui, plus tard, regarde lui-même l’action enregistrée.
