“Where does nature stop and whatever is ‘not-nature’ begin?” asks Jimmie Durham in his text Nature in the City. The elements displayed here on the wall - a piece of wood, the leg of a table, a carved wood ornament and two nuts - represent different parts, forms and functions of the same tree. Black Walnut emphasizes the remaining primary identity of the material through the manufacturing process.
