"Printing and typesetting had been part of my education at Brooklyn Technical High school in the USA, where I learned to use a manual typesetting case. And maybe because of a subsequent apprenticeship in a New York publishing company, I have not only been an intensive reader of all kinds of type-written materials, but also interested in their production and in everything else that has to do with letters and words. Letters in all their forms, words, and by extension space, color and meaning, have been recurring themes in many of my works." - Alexander Schleber
