This new performance – performed live and recorded in M HKA – focuses on the relationship between a number of characters: Homer, a plaster sofa, Lichaam (Dutch for 'body'), played by Hedwig Houben herself, and X, an unknown factor that exerts its influence on Homer. It's a search for mental and physical rest. But the moment Lichaam enters, the fingers take over, “moving, nimble-fingered, swiftly and effortlessly between the virtual and physical world.” Through meditation, concentration, free association and magic, Houben poses the question of the body's control over the spirit, and vice versa.
“…Homer is the kind of character that likes to be supportive. He likes to provide situations of comfort, both physically and psychologically. Meaning: without worries, with all conveniences and with a completely relaxed body. It is a state of well-being for which Body does not have to make any effort, as everything is arranged already…”
