M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Literary synopsis

This novella is about the precarious situation of working and living as an artist. Written in third person, it goes through real and imagined situations that relate to the vulnerability of the artistic profession and the many compromises that have to be made along the way.

Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

This Is a Work of Fiction is a written reflection which goes in parallel with Alina Lupu's post-conceptual practice which is mostly intervention based. Given the ephemeral nature of her practice, the novella serves as a way to crystalise the principles that drive the way in which she makes works since, for the artist, visual documentation always seems to fall short.
