M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Collection: Stad Antwerpen, in langdurige bruikleen in M HKA (Inv. no. SCA0058).

Jaffa Lam (b. 1973) creates site-specific sculptures and installations made from recycled materials such as crate wood, old furniture, and recycled fabric. She simultaneously explores local culture, history, society, and current events. A Piece of History of the Moon is a blue canopy structure made from recycled umbrella fabrics sewn together. For this, Lam collaborated with the Hong Kong Women Workers’ Association, a group of female former garment factory workers. This approach, combined with her use of found and recycled materials, results in sculptures and installations that address such topics as labour, identity, and collectivity.

Jaffa Lam is represented by Axel Vervoordt Gallery.
