The work is structured around Israeli military surveillance footage obtained and released by the human rights group B’Tselem. On 19 March 2014, 14 year-old Yusuf Shawamreh crossed the ‘separation fence’ erected by the Israeli military near Hebron. On his way to pick akub, an edible plant that is a delicacy of Palestinian cuisine, Israeli forces ambushed him and shot him dead. Oh Shining Star Testify weaves together a fragmented script sampled from online record\u0002ings of violent everyday erasures of bodies, land and built structures but also their reappearance through ritualistic song and dance. Op 19 maart 2014 stak de veertienjarige Yusuf Shawamreh de barrière over die het Israëlische leger bij Hebron had opgetrokken. Hij zou akub gaan plukken, een eetbare plant en in de Palestijnse keuken een delicatesse. Yusuf werd door Israëlische militairen in een hinderlaag gelokt en doodgeschoten. Oh Shining Star Testify is een weefsel van fragmenten uit online opnames van het extreme geweld op de Westelijke Jordaanoever: dagelijks vernietiging van mensen, dagelijks verwoesting van land en gebouwen. Maar er zijn ook scènes van rituele gezangen en dansen in de installatie verwerkt die de terugkeer van wie en wat vernietigd werd verbeelden. Abbas \u0026amp; Abou-Rahme herinneren ons eraan dat er plekken bestaan waar elke aansprakelijkheid verdampt. Oh Shining Star Testify tisse un scénario fragmenté, échantillonné, à partir de prises de vue mises en ligne de violents effacements quotidiens de corps, de terres et de structures bâties, mais nous donne aussi à voir leur réapparition à travers des chants et des danses rituels.
