The photographic installation piece Silhouette I and II consists of photographic images leaning against a row of wooden pallets. The wooden palets that constitute the defining architectural features of Silhouette I and II have become something of a signature material in Schaerf’s work – they are used to build adobe, improvisational nomadic structures, while also alluding to the pervasive ‘theme’ of transport and transportation (of one sort or another, either crudely literal or subtly metaphorical) in the artist’s body of work.
