Literary synopsis A young artist travels to Japan to work/study there as an artist, she encounters a society full of unknown codes and mysterious contradictions. *Het geluid van vallende sneeuw* won the Bob den Uyl prize in 2007. Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice This novel was the result of Jannie Regnerus’ stay in Japan. During her study at the Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu (CCA), she tried to unfold the links between her work and the rituals of Shinto, a Japanese ancient nature religion, which is still being practised by most of the Japanese.
