M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Literary synopsis

PHILIP envisions the last week of the year 2019. In the city of Phillipville, a group of characters fight to save the world as the corrosive substance fruice –the active agent of planned obsolescence built into manufactured products and human tissue– reaches its use-by date. The clock is ticking; will Philip get to the heart of corruption in time? Will Brifco lead the revolution? Will Mary ever be young again? Will Finn find true love? Is Cassandra a true prophet?

Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

PHILIP is a limited edition novel, produced at the Just-in-Time workshop by Dexter-Sinister, New York and was launched at the conclusion of the project at Project Art Space Dublin in 2007. Inspired by the worlds of Philip K. Dick, this project brought together a group of international artists, designers, critics and curators whose common language in this instance is their fascination for alternative realities, postulating the impossible and creating new worldviews. Technology, ideology, architecture, political construction and the prospects of global ruin are at the heart of sci-fi narratives and at the heart of PHILIP. PHILIP is also an exhibition consisting of an ongoing programme of shorts by Dara Birnbaum, Juha van Ingen, Tina Keane, George Melies, Anthony Lucas, Otolith Group and Semiconductor and screenings of Samuel Beckett's "Film".
