Hij zaagt het huis middendoor. Vervolgens worden stukken uit de fundering omzichtig weggehaald, zodat het geheel lichtjes open plooit  i n twee symmetrische delen. Splitting vond plaats in een buurt die in transitie was van een zwarte buurt naar een witte buurt, waardoor de bestaande bevolking moest wijken. In Splitting verbreekt hij ook de vorm van de gestandaardiseerde huizen die door allelei regels en moduleringen uniform geworden waren.
