Hermann Goepfert (1926-1982) starts making his revolving, white or two-colored objects (stereo’s) in 1958. He adds elements outside the sculpture’s surface to lend a concrete presence to the light. Initially, in 1960, these take the form of reflecting objects against a white background. Later he produces kinetic reflectors against a background of polished metal. Goepfert is in contact with the Zero group; he also mounts exhibitions featuring the ‘new tendencies’. Working with the architect J.P. Hölzinger, from 1965 he works on larger projects integrating art and architecture.
