The wings\u0026nbsp;were coated with liquid putty and then covered\u0026nbsp;with silk. To operate the machine, the pilot lies on\u0026nbsp;a balsa-wood seat. The helicopter is powered by\u0026nbsp;a combination of arm and leg movements. A lever\u0026nbsp;on the pilot\u0026rsquo;s left-hand control rod adjusts the\u0026nbsp;position of the tail rotor and hence the direction\u003cbr /\u003eof the aircraft.
