Piss Rainbow
2008
Painting, 250 x 195 cm.
Materials: oil on linen
Collection: THE EKARD COLLECTION.
In Piss Rainbow, we see a pyramid of praying men in what is close to cartoon style. Their trousers are dirty, on one of the men fallen around his knees. They appear to be crawling in the direction of a rainbow, an ancient symbol for God the Father.
Narcisse Tordoir sees Tala Madani in the present exhibition as an apt counterpart to Walid al Shami, an Iraqi artist from the Barjeel collection. Al Shami paints only women. Madani and Tordoir explored the etchings of Tiepolo in the print collection of Amsterdam’s National Gallery and chose this graphic work on the basis thereof.
