As a giant model, made entirely from iron wire, this architectural study hangs suspended in space. The empty, now virtual construction allows the probing eye free rein. The visitors' participation is important, as indeed the piece is best explored by walking along it. As if one penetrates a force field, each visitor in his or her personal way bridges the intervals between the objects in this 'staged' space. The maquette extends through more than a single room at *El Hotel Eléctrico*. \r\n\r\nIn the artist's own words: *“The spaces that arise are partially transparent, open to the imagination; you're plunged into an illusion of reality. The images that come into being influence each other and the space, and this creates an estranging dimension of illusory spaces. (...) With these installations I make sites you can describe as sort of external space of my memory that you can walk through and get a physical sense of space, as it were, one that can be enhanced according to your own blueprints.\"* \r\n"},{"locale":"nl","short_description":"","description":"De maquette *Denkbeeld voor een restruimte (iets voor onderweg)* ontdaan van werkkracht is ontstaan rond een ondertussen verdwenen appartement in de sociale woonwijk Luchtbal in Antwerpen Noord. Met beelden van restanten van de bewoners wordt er associatief een nieuwe realiteit gevormd. De lege ruimtes worden getoond zoals het oog deze aftast. \r\n\r\n*\"De ruimtes die ontstaan zijn deels transparant, invulbaar, je wordt ondergedompeld in een werkelijkheidsillusie. De beelden die ontstaan beïnvloeden elkaar én de ruimte, waardoor een bevreemdende dimensie ontstaat van illusionaire ruimtes. (…) Met de installaties maak ik sites die je kan beschouwen als een soort externe ruimte van mijn geheugen waar je doorheen kan wandelen om zo de ruimte fysiek gewaar te worden en vervolgens deze zelf in te vullen met je eigen blauwdrukken.”* zegt Prinsen. \r\n\r\nDe gebruikte media krijgen pas betekenis door hun onderlinge verbanden, maar ook door ruimte en licht. Als toeschouwer doe je bovendien betekenis ontstaan door je aanwezigheid. Je beweging door de ruimte, je persoonlijke associaties en beelden, maken je tot een fysiek onderdeel van de installatie."},{"locale":"fr","short_description":"","description":"La maquette *Denkbeeld voor een restruimte (iets voor onderweg)*, ville transparente dépouillée de main-d’œuvre) est née autour d’un appartement entre-temps disparu, autrefois situé dans le quartier de logements sociaux du Luchtbal, au nord d’Anvers. Cette maquette géante, uniquement confectionnée à partir de fil de fer et faisant office d’étude architecturale, est suspendue dans l’espace. La construction vide, devenue virtuelle, donne libre cours à l’œil scrutateur. La participation du spectateur est importante, car en l’explorant au pas, celui-ci donne du sens à l’œuvre. On pourrait le comparer au fait de s’introduire dans un champ de forces : chaque spectateur comble à sa façon les intervalles entre les objets dans un espace « mis en scène ». La maquette occupe d’ailleurs plus d’une salle de l’exposition El Hotel Eléctrico.\r\n*\"Les espaces qui émergent sont en partie transparents, remplissables. On y est immergé comme dans une illusion de réalité. Les images qui surgissent s’influencent mutuellement et influencent l’espace, ce qui donne lieu à une dimension surprenante d’espaces illusoires. (…) Avec les installations, je crée des sites que l’on peut considérer comme une sorte d’espace externe de ma mémoire, à travers lequel on peut se promener.
