That is why they organized a feast, to which they invited a neighbouring people, the Sabines. During that feast they abducted the nubile Sabine women, upon which the Sabine men went to war. The women, however, came into action at the time of the attack. They stood between the two armies and begged the men to make peace. And they did. Die was weliswaar geen vriend van Rubens, maar wordt wel capabel geacht. De twee kleinere stukken worden ten slotte door Jordaens voltooid.
