On only one occasion did De Vree start drawing expressively with photographic material. For the poem Love (1973), limbs of dancers were cut from photographs and skilfully assembled to form the word ‘love’. The bodily postures, which were previously reproduced photographically, are isolated and appear against a white background, although the fragmented picture loses nothing of its readability and impact. The legs and arms also serve an erotic function, given the ‘free’ postures the figures have adopted. This poem was published in an edition of 200 copies by De Vereniging in Ghent in 1976.
