Literary synopsis

On a eu du Mal tells five stories about characters that have troubles dealing with their emotions, in very different contexts: two kids in a Canadian campground, a sociopath collecting cone pines in the forests of Switzerland, a ski-resort worker stuck in an avalanche, a jogger in peril and a volunteer for experiments on memory distortions in a summer university.

Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

On a eu du Mal is the result of an artist residency at the Centre for Affective Sciences and Geneva Neuroscience Centre. It shares influences (Neuroscience, Tourism, Landscape) with other artworks by Jérémie Gindre of the same period.

About M HKA / Mission Statement

The M HKA is a museum for contemporary art, film and visual culture in its widest sense. It is an open place of encounter for art, artists and the public. The M HKA aspires to play a leading role in Flanders and to extend its international profile by building upon Antwerp's avant-garde tradition. The M HKA bridges the relationship between artistic questions and wider societal issues, between the international and the regional, artists and public, tradition and innovation, reflection and presentation. Central here is the museum's collection with its ongoing acquisitions, as well as related areas of management and research.

About M HKA Ensembles
