Literary synopsis *Wayward North* charts the epic adventure of Iku and Nailah, navigating deserted roads, riotous city streets, dreamscapes, car crash graveyards and underground canals as they seek to bridge the gaps in human communication and the distances between our personal, subjective experiences. Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice *Wayward North* is a multimedia installation comprised of three elements, the centerpiece being twelve large-scale star maps depicting newly imagined constellations derived from Olujimi’s contemporary mythology. Each of these maps spans ten feet in height and twenty feet in length. Functioning as accurate star maps, hundreds of Swarovski crystals were plotted in their precise corresponding coordinates. Olujimi learned to operate a specialized long arm sewing machine, embroidering more than 300 figures for these tapestries. He also created a series of artifacts spawned by the myths. Lastly the piece includes a 150-page companion book containing the complete mythology, exhibition images and critical essays. [Novel website](http://www.kambuiolujimi.com/projects/wayward-north)
