Ensemble: Het Transcendente [The Transcendental]
Les transversalités entre différents niveaux de réalité – rêve, vision, utopie – fascinent de nombreux artistes au cours des années 60 et 70. Leur oeuvre révèle un malaise par rapport à la position sûre d’elle et universaliste de ce que nous avons choisi d’appeler l’esprit « essentiel ». Les artistes du transcendantal créent quant à eux des oeuvres qui demeurent ouvertes à diverses interprétations, doutes et critiques. Ils sont nombreux à faire partie du mouvement de l’arte povera en Italie. Si ces artistes abordent des questions qui relèvent de l’humanité dans son ensemble, ils opèrent cependant souvent par le biais de gestes individuels, subjectifs, voire idiosyncrasiques. Sur le plan idéologique, ils réfutent l’autorité et optent délibérément pour un positionnement d’ouverture.
