INBOX: Winter School

Event

M HKA, Antwerp

03 February 2017 - 26 February 2017

M HKA reserves its fifth floor for surprising interventions and intimate pop-up presentations. INBOX is a place that inspires and surprises, one that offers us a glimpse into the world of passionate thinkers and doers. With INBOX, M HKA creates a physical space in which the museum addresses often-recurring questions.

In the periods between the various events, we present a selection of our collection works, with particular attention to video art.

INBOX can be visited for free.

Greta M.

(a collectively written novella)

Sound and book installation

Preview and drinks: Thursday 09.02.2017, 19:00-21:00

Sixteen participants from St Lucas Antwerp, ECAV Switzerland and HGB Leipzig collectively wrote a novella during a five day workshop led by David Maroto, artist and founder of The Book Lovers. Starting from collaborative reading and writing sessions, the workshop focused on the relation between narrative fiction and contemporary visual art.

The novella tells the story of the disappearance of a piece from the M HKA’s collection. Part diary, part mystery, we follow the thoughts and intrigues of Greta M. as she watches the investigation unfold.

Greta M. was written, edited, designed and printed by Jasmine Bakalarz, Chiara Bertin, Sibel Beyer, Eduardo Cruces, Hanne Van Dyck, Jivan van der Ende, Elena Op ’t Eynde, Dexian Feng, Isabel Fredeus, Phumulani Ntuli (Piere Godide), Lucia Graf, Mieke Hooghe, Anne-Loyse Jaques, Gilani Raja, Anneleen Steenbergen, Pim Steinmann.

Special thanks to M HKA, St Lucas Antwerp, ECAV Switzerland, Ellen Augustynen, Evi Bert, Barnaby Drabble, Kim Gorus, Sabine Herrygers, Peter Lemmens, Mark Luyten, Federica Martini, Hilde van Pelt, Pieter Vermeulen and Joanna Zielinska.
