Aan de andere kant stonden huizen en op straat stonden allemaal kraampjes. Ik stond daar te gapen en ineens zag ik zo’n klein vliegtuigske aankomen, heel in de verte boven de straat. Toen viel ineens de motor stil en dat begon naar beneden te duiken , zonder geluid. Gedurende een aantal seconden draaide het om zijn eigen as. Ik zie het nog altijd op ons afkomen terwijl iedereen naar de grond dook. Toen begon die V1 heen en weer te schommelen, en iedere keer als het op en neer ging, knalde er langs achteren een rode steekvlam uit. Ge hoorde dat aankomen, brbrbrrrr ... , en dat maakte een bocht, brbrbrrrr .. . , en dat kwam recht onze richting uit he, dat V1-tje, met vanachter een zwart kruiske erop en aan de staart die rode vlam. En dat bromde als een motcheklet! Dat was iets verschrikkelijks! Want daar zat vijfhonderd kilo zware springstofin, he! Enfin, dat bleef een paar keer schommelen, brbrbrrrr .. . , scheerde vlak naast de kerktoren, brbrbrrr .. . , juist boven de huiskes van het gemeente­bestuur en zo, brbrbrrrr ... , en op het einde, BAF!, in een stukske niemandsland verderop zo'n groot gat in de grond! In heel Deurne alle ruiten kapot!
