M HKA gaat digitaal

Met M HKA Ensembles zetten we onze eerste échte stappen in het digitale landschap. Ons doel is met behulp van nieuwe media de kunstwerken nog beter te kaderen dan we tot nu toe hebben kunnen doen.

We geven momenteel prioriteit aan smartphones en tablets, m.a.w. de in-museum-ervaring. Maar we zijn evenzeer hard aan het werk aan een veelzijdige desktop-versie. Tot het zover is vind je hier deze tussenversie.

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Joanna Zielińska

Lives in Antwerp (BE).

Joanna Zielińska is an art historian, writer, exhibition maker and performance curator based in Antwerp. Since 2020, she is a Senior Curator at M HKA. She is interested in transdyscyplinary art practice on the crossover between visual arts, theatre and literature. In her practice she explores different mediums and formats in visual arts like: staged exhibition, artist's novel or publication.

In 2015–20, she was the Head of Performing Arts Department at CCA Zamek Ujazdowski in Warsaw. In 2011–15 she was a chief curator at the Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor – Cricoteka in Kraków. She curated Radical Languages (2012) and Nothing Twice project (2014) which was part of the opening of the new home of Cricoteka. Joanna Zielińska curated also Can objects Perform? during Performa 13 in New York. She is the former Chief Curator at the Znaki Czasu Centre of Contemporary Art (CoCA) in Toruń, Poland, where she curated the inaugural exhibition and the institution’s program from 2008–10. She has collaborated with art magazines, contributed to art catalogues and published over 100 articles. From 2003–07, Zielińska worked with the curatorial collective Exgirls. In 2010–11 she was in residence at International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York.

Since 2011, she has been working on a long-term research project on the artist's novel in collaboration with artist David Maroto under the name The Book Lovers. This project has been presented in different installments at: M HKA in Antwerp. De Appel in Amsterdam, Rawen Raw in London, Whitechapel in London, EFA Project Space in New York, among others.
